What sizes of storage units do you offer?
– We have a variety of storage units sizes from 5×5 to 20×20 (as large as a two car garage).
How do I know what size unit I need?
– We can show you the storage unit prior to renting it, or you can use our Storage Calculator which can estimate the unit size based on your items.

What items am I not allowed to store?
– Gasoline, propane tanks, drugs, and weapons are examples of prohibited items. Electric heaters, freezers, or refrigerators cannot be plugged in.
Do you offer climate-controlled units?
– At this time, we do not offer climate controlled storage units.
What’s the difference between indoor and outdoor storage?
– We only offer easy drive-up outdoor storage. Many newer facilities offer indoor storage where you move items via carts and elevators.
Are leases month-to-month?
– Yes, all of our storage lease are month to month.
Can I access my storage unit anytime?
– All units are accessible 24 hours a day.
Do all locations offer drive-up access?
– Yes, all of our storage facility locations offer drive up access to the storage units.
What’s included with my rental?
– With your rental, you get a free lock and 24 hour access to your storage unit.
Can I transfer to a different unit size if I need more or less space?
– Yes, you can transfer into a different storage unit at anytime. You may need to change locations, typically just blocks away.
How much does a storage unit cost?

– Currently, we offer a one month free discount.
Do I need to pay a deposit or administrative fee?
– No, we have never charged a deposit or admin fee for a storage unit at any of our locations.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept payments with Credit card, cash, check, or money order.
Can I set up autopay?
Yes, using a credit card or bank account.
How do I make a payment online?
You will set up an account at readingstorage.com after renting.
What happens if I miss a payment?
We offer a 5-day grace period. After that, a late fee applies, and the storage unit is locked on the 11th of the month.
How secure are your storage facilities?
We have multiple locations. Some are fenced and gated, some have cameras, and many are located on main streets.
Do you have video surveillance and gated access?
At some locations.
Can I use my own lock, or is one provided?
A high-quality lock is provided, but you may use your own.
Who can access my storage unit?
Only you, unless you give someone a key.
What happens if I lose my key or forget my access code?
You receive 3 keys. If all are lost, you must pay to have the lock cut and replaced.
Do all facilities have on-site staff?
No. We have a central office at 500 N 13th Street, Reading, PA.
Are the properties well-lit at night?
Most of our storage facilities are well-lit, and improvements are constantly ongoing.
How do I rent a unit?
Call us 15 minutes before you want to see a unit (Mon–Fri, 9–5).
Can I complete my rental online?
You can make a reservation online only.
Can I move in the same day I rent a unit?
Yes, if it’s Monday–Friday, 9–5.
What should I bring when moving in?
A driver’s license or government ID and payment.
Do you provide carts or dollies to help with moving?
No, all of our storage units are drive-up storage units.
Is there a minimum or maximum rental period?
There is a one month minimum; no maximum storage rental period.
How do I move out or end my lease?
Please clean out and sweep the storage unit. Then you would need to return the three keys you are given upon mov-in. This would need to be completed by the last day of the month.
How much notice do I need to give before moving out?
No notice is needed. Please just vacate by the last day of the month.
Do I need insurance for my stored items?
No, but we offer tenant insurance for an additional fee.
How should I pack and stack my items for storage?
We recommend plastic containers with lids over boxes.
What’s the best way to protect furniture or electronics?
Wrap items in plastic to protect from dust and weather elements.
Do you offer pest control or humidity protection?
We place mouse bait in every storage unit.
Can I store a vehicle, RV, or boat?
Yes, we offer storage units and parking for vehicles, RVs, and boats.
